Highlighter is a Chrome extension that lets you draw colored highlight boxes and add personal memos on any web page. Your privacy is important to us, and this extension is designed to keep all your data local.

Highlighter does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. No analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind is used.

Data Storage

All data — including highlight boxes, memos, color preferences, and keyboard shortcut settings — is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your browser.

Permissions

The extension requests the following permissions:

• storage — To save your highlights and settings locally.
• activeTab — To interact with the current tab when you click the extension icon.
• scripting — To inject the content script when needed (e.g., after extension updates).
• Host permission (all URLs) — To allow drawing highlights on any web page you visit. No data from these pages is collected or transmitted.

Third Parties

Highlighter does not use any third-party services, libraries, or APIs. There are no external network requests.
